Hi! I am Ashley and I’m a master’s level student pursuing a license in Social Work and currently completing my clinical internship here at Root Salve. I have experience working in a variety of mental health settings with many different populations. My experience includes working in adult and child inpatient psychiatric units, an adolescent partial hospitalization program, and a group home that served primarily teenage boys. Over the years, there are a

couple of things I have learned in each place. For one, everyone’s story is so wildly different. Second, giving people the space to be heard, understood, and safe without judgement is absolutely crucial to healing and can really make a big impact.

Unfortunately I have seen this is not always the case in traditional mental health care. Too often, many of us have been overlooked or undeserved in these traditional settings. I strive to create a warm, supportive, and judgement-free space where clients can be honest about what

they’re experiencing without feeling like they have to have everything figured out. I have training in Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and I believe therapy is something we work though together, at your pace. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, navigate what you are going through and create a meaningful change.
